This title is a Joan's Pick.
Charlie St Clair is an American in London in 1947, searching for a cousin who disappeared in Europe during the war. On following up the only lead she has, she meets Eve, a woman who was recruited during WW1 into a female spy ring called The Alice Network - where she had experiences from which she has never recovered.
Thereby starts a trail of events which ultimately leads Eve to revisit that period, and in the process, they discover what happened to Charlie's cousin. Woven into actual events which did take place, it's a slice of history of the type which should never be forgotten.
Much of this book is based on fact - the Network did exist and those women were heroic. Fans of Lilac Girls will love this as much as I did. Joan- Format: Paperback / softback
