Retro Range Toys and Games Jack Straws is a traditional game presented in a 1950's style. This very old game has entertained children for a long time. Originally played using lengths of straw that were gathered together and then allowed to fall onto a heap, the skill is to then remove each piece of straw one at a time without moving any of the others. This game is still known as pick up sticks. Jack Straws has been developed from this and now the 'straws' have been replaced by items that represent trades like a rake for a gardener or an oar for a fisherman (Jack of all trades). The level of difficulty is stepped up because of the irregular shapes which can catch on each other.
